Date: Sun, 11 Apr 1993 19:58:37 GMT Lines: 39 Good afternoon! I've run into some problems attempting to install the dist.fs for 386BSD. Hopefully, someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong. :-) Hardware: 386 40Mhz with 8 meg of RAM Adaptec ACB-2372B RLL HD Controller Seagate ST-4096 drive WD8003 Ethernet board (Configured to IRQ2, RAM Base d000) VGA Monitor (Board with 512K Memory) Symptoms: I got the dist.fs disk to boot and install the very first time I tried, with no problems. (Other than not being able to get the ethernet link to work when attempting to load the other files via ethernet). So, I tried to reinstall the dist.fs disk, thinking I had messed something up on initial install. Any subsequent attempt to install the dist.fs fails. The dist.fs disk boots up as normal, see's my hardware, etc. When I type install, it see's that 386BSD has already been installed and asks if I wish to reinstall. (Which I answer yes to). The install process will proceed to: Mounting 386BSD filesystem. Installing files from installation floppy. At this point, I see the HD activity light flashing while files are copied across from the floppy. Then, after about 1 or 2 minutes, all HD activity stops, and the floppy drive is still running. It looks as if something has locked up, but I'm not sure. If I examine the disk with MSDOS 5.0 fdisk, there are no partitions defined??? Hopefully, someone will have the answers to this rather frustrating problem! Thanks in advance. Steve
