We wish him the best of luck. GOOD LUCK Rodney. And thank you for your help with the FDC driver. ----------------------------------- Julian has graciously volunteered to coordinate the BETA tests for the FDC project. I suspect he is as busy as any of us, so do not exceed your requests to him without some considerations first. First Rule in this matter, JULIAN is in charge of all BETA test matters... EVEN if he is wrong. _And_ I will stand behind him on this 100% Second Rule, if you are confused and do not know what do to see rule #1. Here are some requests that Julian/Rodney had made of me that I must concede to... they are only reasonable. 1) The number of testers is limited to 10. 2) He alone can make a cutoff date for applying for being a beta-tester. 3) He will collect all data and determine tests, however I have requested the following information for finishing the FDC driver. need to get specs on each user (knowledge, capabilities, etc) get specs on CPU in use(sx,dx,486) get FDC in use(Intel 8272, NEC 765, etc.) type of machine (server, laptop, single user) type of drives available for each user.. and willingness to test each drive OS version in use. patches installed. 4) He will announce the release date for the final version, in coordination with writer(s)/patcher(s), of course. 5) By my request he will collect the information regarding: bugs, regression testing, etc. 6) He has asked that no "newbies" work on the project. 7) He will send out questionnaires regarding your knowledge in 386bsd. 8) If I have responded to you, you will still need to mail him with your willingness to participate, e-mail him as julian@jules.dialix.oz.au subject: [FDC beta] 9) Documentation will be handled by me along with anyone that wants to help me, and that Julian believes can help. Related to this the QIC-40/80 project will come on-line Next week (week of 4-15-93). Needless to say I will be unreasonably busy, along with this I will be at an Embedded Software Development Seminar. The QIC-40/80 project is now over a month overdue, but a happy note is that I will be working in coordinating with the OS/2, LYNUX, & MACH386 groups. I expect other groups to join if all goes well.
