So far I have been able to : install BSD and the latest version of patches. My problem comes : with the elite16 card that resides in the machine. After playing : with it for awhile I have been able to get the card to work with only : 35% packet loss( this is with it configured x280 0D000 irq 5)... : as you can guess this is highly undesirable. : : This is what I have been told so far: : : *Set IRQ to 15 : Reply- Got complete packet loss. What patchkit level are you at? IRQ15 was broken until patchkit 0.2.2 due to a short != u_short error in the isa_device structure. Patch00091 fixes this. : *Set the memory on the card to 8k : Reply- The conf program that came with the card won't let me. : But I did figure out the kernel was conf as though the card only : had 8k. Fixing this didn't help. : : If this also helps. The 486 also has a trident video card with a megg in it. : And the machine has 16 megg of memory. That seems ok. Do you have any other boards at IRQ5?? IE a second lpt port normally is set to IRQ5, also some COM4 boards are set to irq5. : : Any help would be greatly apprecieted. : : Brian
