The FSF's open strategy is to use their software as a tool to change the political structure of the software market. I'm not saying that this isn't legitimate... after all it *is* their code and they can do what they want with it... but I would REALLY appreciate some of the same consideration from their side when people's goals don't happen to match theirs or be compatible with the GPL. There are some folks in the FSF that can understand this (Craig Burley seems to be a pretty cool guy, for example), so it's not like it's such an unreasonable request. > From what I have seen, it seems only FSF, GNU, Linux can bring out a better > complete free operating system. Better than what? 386BSD is already a better operating system than any commercial offering, in the areas I'm interested. Linux will probably get there pretty soon. I have no anticipation that GNU itself will ever show up: it's been on the order of 10 years in the making, and still hasn't been released. > I'd love to see 386bsd start using the GNU copylefted stuff. Won't happen. If anything, the amount of copyleft stuff in 386BSD is going to be reduced. Fix the copyleft, and maybe this will change... if it wasn't for the Library GPL there probably wouldn't be any at all. -- Peter da Silva. <peter@sugar.neosoft.com>. `-_-' Oletko halannut suttasi tänään?
