I was able to pin the problem down to floating point, a 4 line C program to multiply two floats successfully crashed the machine also. The software emulator was definitely not being used, and the FPU checked out OK when the IIT diagnostics were run on it from DOS. I did not track this problem any further - I upgraded to an Intel 486-DX - it was more cost effective to my employer than having me research the problem and a possible solution! -- Michael G.
