A pointer to a complete gzip release would be sufficient, and could reduce the distribution sizes. (This stripping was already done with gcc as well). Maybe I am wrong, but usr/src/usr.bin/tar does not look like the recent gnu release, which allows unpacking of gzip files, which would be an improvement.
