Um, I don't think you speak for all authors of free software, certainly not for me. I suspect in most cases 90% of the work was done to solve a problem, and only the last 10% of the effort, documentation and packaging, and maybe a few bells and whistles. If a person is a problem solver in general, there will be a lot of "neat stuff" generated over the years, which can be shared with the net with minimal effort. -- bill davidsen, GE Corp.
