If you have a 286, then you have all the hardware except for the motherboard. You can get a 386/40 motherb 3 blocks from my house for $190 (probably cheaper by mailorder or if you looked around). If you're 286 was new enough to use SIMM's, you don't even have to buy memory if they're the right kind.
