Whenever I stop the X server either by bailing out with CTRL-ALT-BS or
somehow else (logging out) the vga screen is left in an unusable state.
Either the timing is so different that it cannot synchronize anymore
(the screen is then full of little o bubbles) or the characters are
somewhat anemic and unreadable for a 'normal' user :-(

The latter behaviour is with the old server (Beta of around Dec 92)
while the former is with the new (1.2) one.

Anyone else seen this?
