OK, I know this is a keen question but I was asked it lately by one
of my guinea pig users "..and how can I format a floppy ?".

"Hahum, umn, gulp", I said, "em, er, this is not possible with this
wonderful UNIX system. You gotta find some DOS system or have to buy
 preformatted floppies."

"OK", he said, "and how can I take some files home or bring some files
I edited on my home system to that machine?"

"You can use mread/mwrite, called mtools or you can use tar but then I have to
give you a tar for DOS first and this requires to install djgpp/go32...."

The chronist stops here and asks the community:

 1) Is there a fd format program meanwhile?

 2) How far has grown pcfs ? (paul?@amdahl.com ??) Does it fit into 0.1-0.2.3?
