I've cross-compiled the entire distribution from a `rs6000-ibm-aix' to
an `i386-unknown-bsd' using GCC 2.3.3, GAS 1.38.1, and binutils 2.0.

It takes some tweaks to get things to work right with GCC 2, though,
even on the native machine.
