I doubt that this is it, but I just installed a system that was really flaky until I physically separated the disk controller and the ethernet adapter. Also, on an EISA system with an Adaptec 1742 controller, it seems necessary to tell the eisa config program that you have no floppy (ie, use 0001.cfg) and yet enable the floppy jumper. -- Jon Zeeff NIC handle JZ jon@ais.org RIPEM accepted
