Nntp-Posting-Host: aris.ss.uci.edu Message-ID: <2BFBEBCA.3881@news.service.uci.edu> Summary: Can't get printer to do carriage returns Newsgroups: comp.os.386bsd.questions Reply-To: jstern@eclectic.ss.uci.edu Organization: University of California, Irvine Keywords: HP DeskJet printing lpr filter Lines: 16 Date: 20 May 93 20:36:26 GMT How do you specify to lpr to translate any LF's it sees in a file by sending them out to the printer as CR+LF? I thought it was :ty=nl: in the printcap, but this doesn't work. I have even taken to sending out the HP PCL command for this translation as a printcap command: :ld=\E\100\038\107\050\071: and even THIS doesn't work. Any clues? This is frustrating, as what I end up having to do is go into the files via Emacs/Mg and replace all LF's with CR+LF's and THEN printing, and this DOES work, but I shouldn't have to do this all the time!!! Thanks for any help. Jeff Stern <jstern@eclectic.ss.uci.edu> "Timex Sinclair UNIX.. coming soon to a dealer near you."
