Summary: Login on com1 getty via com2 tip using l/b cable fails
Keywords: serial getty login
X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.1 PL8]

I have spent some time today trying to attach a terminal to my 386bsd box
on COM1. I can add a getty to /dev/com01 and when the remote machine tries
to attach the login prompt is displayed OK. However when the user enters
the login id the session hangs.

As a test I tried simply logging into COM1 from COM2 using tip and a
null modem and serial cable and got the same results.

Any ideas anyone? I am using the default getty entries that come in
/etc/ttys.

Cheers,

James
