After having a bootable patch-a kernel now I find that everything looks
the same as before. Esp., I do not see init executing the /etc/rc script.
I'll try to trace this but if anyone has some comments it would perhaps be
helpful.

A question aside: Would it be recommendable to recompile the daemons
and net utilities (inetd, ifconfig, etc..) too? I found that ifconfig suddenly
hangs when I want to specify a .0 broadcast address on we0.
