But can only be used with 386bsd0.1 for booting, if you first got the new bootblocks onto your drive. I have first used a 1542B for installing 386bsd0.1 und upgrading upto 0.2.3 than installed the new bootblocks and then switched to a 1542C. The old bootfloppies doesn't function with a 1542C. Had not tested this procedure with BSDI386, but the boot floppies doesn't function with a 1542C installed. B542 ????? I don't know. If you want to use it as a second controller besides your Ultrastor, use a 1542C. If you want at some time to boot with it, better go with a 1542B, only use a 1542C, if you have a 1542B nearby :-). And one more question from me: Has anyone built a new boot floppy for 386bsd0.1, that boots with a 1542C ?? -- ATS ( ats@first.gmd.de or ats@cs.tu-berlin.de ) Andreas Schulz GMD-FIRST O-1199 Berlin-Adlershof Rudower Chaussee 5 Gebaeude 13.7 Tel: +49-30-6392-1856 Germany/Europe
