Hardware:
386-40 AMD w/AMI bios, forex chipset, 120MB IDE Quantum Harddrive
Software:
Dos5.1,386bsd w/ dist.fs kernel and bin01 distribution installed, pboot.exe
Problem:
After installing the bin distribution, I figured out that I needed to
disklabel my hard drive, so I did so, partitioning it with the swap space
at the end of the physical disk. I had previously had some problems when
it booted, and this cleared them up. The one problem it created is that
it gave me a VERY wierd /var/spool directory. Whenever I use commands
such as cd, rm -f, ls, or anything, I get the error "invalid argument".
The directory permissions look like this "?---------", and I cannot chmod
them. The directory is listed as having 0 links and 0 bytes. The date
is Dec 31, 1969. (go figure). The inode is 15872. I cannot rm the directory
or change it in any way, and since several programs try to use this dir,
it is kind of a problem. Please e-mail me at mattc@leland.stanford.edu with
any suggestions.
