Vitillaro) Subject: Request of HELP! Message-ID: <1993May27.190245.174288@ipgaix.unipg.it> Keywords: Booting, emulated WD, Julian's boot blocks Organization: Universita' di Perugia Date: Thu, 27 May 1993 19:02:45 GMT Lines: 45 I'm facing an interesting problem, it seems that my HD controller emulate all the WD (it is actually SCSI) command except what is needed by the standard 386bsd to understand HD untrasleted geometry (yes, I verified that with ide_conf). So I cannot use standard boot blocks: I need Julian's boot blocks, that use BIOS for first and second stage boot. Many people answered me that what I need are the kc floppy of NetBSD, but when I boot from kc-aha floppy it panics with an infamous "Trap 18" at the time to mount the install1.fs floppy (this was already reported in this group, but I didn't found an answer). Then I think what I need are: a) a dist.fs and fixit.fs with the Julian boot blocks in place (in /usr/mdec) in place of standard wdboot and bootwd; (I don't know if having the boot for the floppy is the case; seeing what happens with NetBSD) or b) the binaries already compiled of the boot blocks and some explanation on how to mount them in the dist.fs ot fixit.fs; or c) a way to boot a NetBSD kc floppy on my machine avoiding the "Trap 18" (defined reserved in the FAQ); Anybody here may help here on this?
