Message-ID: <1993Jun9.145312.14008@fys.ruu.nl> Keywords: NetBSD, codrv, pccons, XFree86, xdm Organization: Physics Department, University of Utrecht, The Netherlands Date: Wed, 9 Jun 1993 14:53:12 GMT Lines: 28 Hi all, There's this little problem I'm having with NetBSD which I would like to see solved. I'm running NetBSD0.8 with XFree86-1.2 for about a week now, and I must say; I'm impressed, it's a beautiful system, as long as I don't use XDM! I'm aware that the NetBSD kernel has the standard 'pccons' driver and that this is the key to all the XDM trouble. I know I should use the 'codrv' driver, but since I don't have enough disk space to carry the NetBSD sources, I can't rebuild the kernel for the 'codrv' driver. Or is there another way to replace the console driver? If not, could someone please tell me if there's a NetBSD kernel with the 'codrv' driver available from FTP? I did try to replace the kernel with a 'kernel-1.2.codrv-fix-1' which was included in the XFree86-1.2 distribution, but that didn't work (not even with the codrv-Xserver). (The suplied 'kernel-1.2.pccons-fix-1' didn't work either, only the original NetBSD kernel with the pccons-Xserver works.) Let me state that I'm not a UNIX whiz (but then you probably gathered that from my questions, which BTW hopefully aren't FAQs :) ). Thanx in advance, Vince. -- Vincent Verleun verleun@fys.ruu.nl.
