Is there an >upper bound on the physical memory (16 Mbytes?) anonymous ftp to next.com for the latest Compatibility Guide. NeXT wants users to use a localbus video. So far they support in varing degrees of resolution C&T Wingine, ATI 68800, (Dell) JAWS, S3 805, QVision, ET4000. Other graphics boards are in the process of being supported (S3 928, ET4000W32i). EISA sytems supported. some laptops supported. They support IDE, and SCSI drives (though right now a SCSI CD-ROM is needed to load the system). 400 MB recomended for developer system. Adaptec/Bustek/DPR controller support. Recommended RAM is 12-24 MB depending on graphic system. 3COM EtherLink III, SMC 8013, Intel EtherExpress ethernet cards are supported as is the Intel TokenExpress token ring card. Media Vision, Intel, and Compaq audio devices are supported (but optional) and the hot topic in the comp.os.next.* groups right now is the fact only postscript printer appear to be supported. There is a great education deal running right now. $249 for both the User and Developer Environments, supposedly with a free upgrade to the 3.2 version. There is also a great Developers Introduction deal for about $300. See the docs at next.com for details.
