I am using pfdisk to split an IDE Quantum 120 LPS disk drive in 2 parts. This disk has 901 cylinders, 5 heads and 53 sectors as reported by ide_conf. I've gone to the cmos setup and reformatted the disk with these parameters. (Originally CMOS had 814 cyl, 9 heads, 32 sect/track) I booted a Dos floppy (DOS 5.0) and ran pfdisk to partition the disk. I set the Geometry to 901 cyl, 5 heads 53 sectors/track. I've also setup partition 1 for DOS from cyl 0 to cyl 449. Setup partition 2 from cyl 450 to cyl 900 type A5 (165). Booted kc-aha.fs into install1.fs and set the geometry as 901 cyl 5 heads 53 sec/track. The number of sectors per cyl was determined as 265 so I assigned the NetBSD offset to be 265*450 cyl and the NetBSD size to be 265*451. The root partition I gave it 100 cyl or 265*100 sectors swap 150 cyl or 265*150 The rest went to /usr or 251*265. Labeled and copied everything without any problem. rebooted and copied the Kernel onto wd0a whithout any problems until I tried to boot from the hard disk. The system would not boot. It tried to continously read from the empty floppy drive after doing an initial disk access to the hard disk. Any Ideas ??? BTW a second disk was also on line with a DOS partition which was reported as wd1 by the floppy kernel. -- ___________________________________________________________________________ Paul R.
