Yesterday I tried to compile emacs-19.13 using gcc-2.4.0 on my
NetBSD-0.8 system. I got lots of errors about redefined constants
(often in the /usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/i386-bsd/2.4.0... directory),
and the install dumped with a Bus error. Today I compiled emacs-19.13
using the stock gcc that comes with NetBSD and all went swimmingly. I
am in awe at having emacs on my little home machine (and my hard drive
has gained about thirty pounds).

So my question: Why all the constant redefinitions when using the newer
gcc? Should I just bag it and use the stock one? There must be a way
to stop those errors!
