I didn't quite figure out the problem with partition d. I installed a lot of HD's here but NEVER had to leave 'd' empty. *maby a feature of 386bsd 8*). Anyway, the disk wasn't even lowlevel formatted so I did it on a sun. *is there no lowlevel-format prog for 386bsd?* After formatting the disklabel -w -r as1 <mytype> worked fine and the program asked me if I wanted to make a DOS partition ??? Well I answered no. Everything including swap works now great!
