It's really quite simple, once you know the answer anyways.. I found it by searching thru tip source, but that doesn't really matter, I wouldn't put you through that! ;) Try this next time.. 1) tip to your modem. 2) run the "stty cs8 -parenb -istrip" on the remote end. 3) immediately (don't type ANYTHING else), type "~sparity=none". 4) Your in N81. Or should be.. Works for me! >I don't know if it's tip or com driver that prohibits 8 bit chars. >I believe this has been discussed before. I appreciate if someone can >tell me the solution or indicate where I can get the archived news. Neither. The both \SUPPORT/ 8 bit chars just fine, it's just getting them into that mode that is the problem.. <G> /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ \/ Super Soft Software, Inc. /\ IBM-PC Demo-Site Maintainer! \/ /\ Custom Hardware/Software \/ wasp.eng.ufl.edu (128.227.116.1) /\ \/ Computer Consulting /\-------------------------------------------\/ /\ MS-Dos, UNIX, Mac, Windows, \/ Mail Addresses: crt@tiamat.umd.umich.edu /\ \/ OS/2, and Amiga! /\ rls@freefall.cdrom.com \/ /\ (313)531-1566 \/ dmw@wasp.eng.ufl.edu /\ \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/
