Linux has had Unix domain sockets and TCP/IP sockets for a long time now - cetainly since last October when I put sugalaxy on the internet. The memory management is pretty much the same as 386BSD, although Linux has some minor oddities and a more limited mmap() than say SunOS at the moment. Loads of people here do a lot of work with Linux. In fact the only thing holding back students running Linux here is the 1st year, and a few second year courses that use pascal (ugh). Everything else (prolog,ml,C,C++..) is available. Alan Cox <iiitac@pyr.swan.ac.uk>
