Afraid not, the first thing on the disk is the boot sector. If you use pfdisk,
it will tell you exactly where you DOS partition is. Use this information to
create a partition entry with disklabel, which you then refer to in
/etc/mtools. I'm not sure if this is the  only way to do it, but its what I did
and it seems to work fine.
