With *all* lines connected and proper shielding? I also thought I'd have one (it worked wonderful with my Epson LQ, under DOS and 386bsd), until I connected a LaserJet 4L to my system. It didn't properly respond (the LJ 4L can reply to the computer via return status lines with a proprietary protocol), and I found that the cable was missing 2 lines and two others incorrectly connected. There seem to be several types of suspicious cables out there; I had one that at least worked under normal circumstances; your's might be connected wrong in a different way. There might be probably a short between ground and a not frequently used status line. -- Dr. Holger Veit | INTERNET: Holger.Veit@gmd.de | | / GMD-SET German National Research | Phone: (+49) 2241 14 2448 |__| / Center for Computer Science | Fax: (+49) 2241 14 2342 | | / P.O.
