Whenever the cable is in, : the lpt0 and lpa0 messages don't appear at bootup. But, if I unplug : the printer cable, they show up during the boot process. I can't figure out : why this might be; does anyone else know? I have an HP LJ II as my printer, : and it works fine under DOS/Windows. Any information would be appreciated. : Note: even if the printer is off, as long as the cable is in both the 'puter : and the printer, lpt0 will not be acknowledged. I haven't tried unplugging : it from the printer, as that seems kind of silly, since I can just turn : the printer off. It may not be (silly). I have exactly the same problem. I installed 386bsd0.1+patch2.3. I use EPSON LQ-500. Whenever I want to print, I have to unplug the printer and reboot. Turning off the printer doesn't help. No problem under DOS. C.
