Message-ID: <CA0r7I.A3B@noose.ecn.purdue.edu> Date: 11 Jul 93 21:18:53 GMT References: <1993Jul9.100155.22153@vd.seqeb.gov.au> Sender: news@noose.ecn.purdue.edu (USENET news) Organization: Purdue University Engineering Computer Network Lines: 26 My apology if this is a FAQ. I installed 386bsd 0.1 last fall, and have done relatively little with it since then. Can someone direct me to the procedure for upgrading via patchkits? (Are these patches official, and is there a detailed explanation of how to use patch? I have gotten into some trouble in the past when patch encounters a modified file it didn't expect...). Also, I would like to get the latest (stable) version of XFree running on my system. Please inform me of any caveats that may apply: I have a Gateway 486-33 system with an ATI Graphics Ultra video card, a 200Mb IDE and a 500Mb SCSI (Adaptec 1542 controller) installed. The current kernel I am running handles the SCSI driver no-problem, and I have sectioned both disks into DOS and 386BSD sections. To get back to a DOS boot, I boot from a DOS floppy and then use fdisk to reset the boot on the harddisk. Please reply to me either at Delphi (tgt@delphi.com) or Purdue (tgt@ecn.purdue.edu). Thanks very much. -tom -- Tom Tobin UUCP: pur-ee!tgt Dept. of ChE INTERNET: tgt@ecn.purdue.edu Purdue University Ma Bell: home (317) 463-0189 W. Lafayette, IN 47907 office " 494-4052
