At least with an S3 801 you will have better performance than a sparc 2. If you opt for an et4000 based card such as the Diamond SpeedStar Pro you will have about 1/8 or less the performance of an S3 801 in the suggested CPU configuration. Then again, with the Diamond cards you will have a tough time with just about any PD X server.
