: I'm glad to see such an honest opionion from somebody working at Sun.
: More over, I agree completely with this statement. I am very familiar
: with SunOS 4.1.x, and like it a lot. I am getting to know Solaris 2.2
: better, and find it quite usable. In time it's quite possible that I
: may get to prefer Solaris 2.x over SunOS 4.1.3.

: Yes, Sun has done some bad things in connection with the introduction
: of Solaris 2.x. But things are improving...

: As for myself, I'm looking forward to 2.3, which should be released some
: time this fall/winter. And I'm also looking forward to BSD 4.4 on Suns,
: but that won't happen until the lawsuit between USL and BSDI/UCB has been
: settled... BSD 4.4 will only run on the sun4c architecture, as far as I
: know. Anyone for porting to sun4m?

I hope it is faster. My manager volunteered to be the Guinea pig for Solaris
2.2, and he claims it is far slower running OpenWindows on a Classic than
running OpenWindows on a SS-1 running 4.1.1.
