Message-ID: <jtheis.1.743254525@Mat.Mathematik.Uni-Mainz.DE> Summary: Has anyone got a BSD 386 boot disk that works with the Adaptec 1542C? Keywords: Adaptec 1542C, boot disk, tiny BSD Sender: usenet@minnie.zdv.uni-mainz.de (USENET News System) Nntp-Posting-Host: imamz40.mathematik.uni-mainz.de Organization: Department of Mathematics, Johannes Gutenberg-Universitaet Date: Wed, 21 Jul 1993 11:35:25 GMT Lines: 17 I could not install 386 BSD with any of the boot disks available to me on Internet. I have a 486DX/50 mainboard with a local bus ET4000 graphics card and a 16bit Adaptec 1542C SCSI controller. Tiny BSD (Jan 1993) installs a BSD partition on the disk, copies some files and then claims it to be a bootable BSD system, but trying to boot from hard disk it gets stuck immediately (the only output is a 'b' in the upper left corner of the screen; the hard disk and floppy a: control lights are on). The distribution disk KC-FLOPAHA.FS recognises adapter and hard disk correctly but gets stuck after asking for a bootable disk without having accessed it. Does anybody know how to install 386 BSD properly or whether there is a more modern boot disk which does not show these problems? Please contact me at THEIS@MZDMZA.ZDV.UNI-MAINZ.DE Thanks, Christian
