Message-ID: <CAvLKA.4vA@veda.is> Date: 28 Jul 93 13:02:19 GMT Organization: Veda Systems, Iceland Lines: 19 I am using the version of cron that is got by installing 386bsd 0.1 + pk-0.2.4 and am getting sporadic crashes (about twice a day on average) mostly occuring at "cron" times. There is no discernable pattern other than that, but it does seem that cron is somehow causing the crashes. Is there a more recent version of cron available? I saw something posted about a new cron awhile back, but I could not see that newcron.tar.z that I found on the ftp sites was any newer than the patchkit version. As a reference point, 0.1.2.4 on a good motherboard crashes on average as often as 0.1.2.3 on a bad motherboard (where good/bad is a function of DMA/cache coherency). The only other difference was starting to use the serial ports (first as com, then as sio, with no noticeable difference in crash frequency). I had also suspected the old if_ec ethernet driver (3c503) of causing some of these crashes, but installing the if_ed driver has not helped in that respect. -- adam@veda.is
