If you do not then either the mouse is not working or the open on the com port is blocking because carrier-detect is not asserted. I fixed my mouse port (NOT a ps/2 one but serial) by setting my mouse serial port to be bi-directional, that way an open on the port will not block. -- Brett Lymn
