(Note: the disk may be an external disk.) : By far and away, your best bet is to get an Adaptec 1542B (Not the : C, I think there's still problems with it). I have been using the B's for a long while and have just ordered the C's. You will find it very difficult to locate any distributors that still shelf the B version. From a posting I just read the 1542C seems to be running NetBSD 0.8 very nicely. I wanted to get the B version, but was unable to find a distributor through the Computer Shopper rag that would sell them. I suppose we should have someone on the net who has experience with the 1542C version give us their persceptions of the status. I would be very interested since I have recently ordered several.... How 'bout it, does anyone have performance or other problems with the C version that we should know about??? -- ============================================================================= Richard D.
