Helloooooo Gamma??? Message-ID: <1993Aug3.104429.26643@husc14.harvard.edu> From: haley@husc10.harvard.edu (Elizabeth Haley) Date: 3 Aug 93 10:44:28 EDT Distribution: world Organization: Harvard University Science Center Summary: Where the hell is lgamma.c? Nntp-Posting-Host: husc10.harvard.edu Lines: 40 HiHo: So there I was, intrepidly trying to compile gnuplot3.4, when <BAM!> I run into the silliest thing I hace ever seen. Where previous version of Gnuplot would use it's own version of gamma in the absence of a native version, This one dies with a "_NOGAMMA not defined" error. One might complain the the maintainer of Gnuplot, but Nay! For the directory /usr/src/lib/libm/common_source contains an nroff file for the man page for lgamma(3). But no source. Not on agate. Not on the net2 tape (as seen on gatekeeper.dec.com). Have I missed something? Is this a vast conspiracy against real numbers? And please don't say "just get the GNU math library", that doesn't address the problem. I don't mind usung the GNU lib, but this function SHOULD be there. Also, in stty([23]?) Gnuplot tries to refer to a parameter called IUCLC, (Input Uppercase to lowercase?), which doesn't apparently exist. (On checking Steven's "Advanced Programming in the Unix Environment" I note that this is a SVR4 extension) Any plans to emulate this? In this same vein, the function(s) that use this are the readline function, which, according to the authors, is not GNU readline, because they didn't wish it to be under the GPL. Can GNU readline be dropped into place with minor corrections? Thanks for your time and thoughts... Also, a general "Thanks for all your hard work" to the various members of the system teams for *BSD, as well as all those who have contributed patches to the system. My computer has never crashed from stupid programming, and it's your fault. :-) -- If you love your fun... |[{(<=--=>)}]|David Charles Todd, tHE mAN wITH tHREE fIRST nAMES|[{(<=--=>)}]| |||||||||||||||||||||||||hacksaw@headcheese.daa.uc.edu|||||||||||||||||||||||| ...Die for it!
