Date: Wed, 18 Aug 1993 04:16:45 GMT Lines: 39 Hi, I am using an Adaptec 1542C with two DEC rz23l's (110 Meg each) I realise this is a bit of the "if it hurts dont do it..." type question BUT I figure the system really should have not troubles with this benchmark. (this bench mark causes no such pain to any other UNIX boxes I try.) I having been running the program iozone to assess the transfer speed to/from disk, I have found that the drives/controller/bus/device-driver has a little heart attack... resulting in the error: sd?: Unit Attention ^ insert 0/1 here Any further attempt at an operation involving those drives is unsuccessful resulting in /sbin/sync: Input/Output Error (iozone for those that have not come accross it before, gives estimates on the speed to sequentially read/write various size files with various block sizes, in auto mode, the mode I have been using it, it increased the size of the file until it fills the disk, then the file is deleted. NO, it does not fill the disk (only gets to 4 Mb files)) Any ideas guys (I was considering a party for the drive, is that enough attention ? or perhaps the drive is requesting relocation to a military site ?) Whimper.
