The dialing out is not the real problem, just take kermit set your modem
to ignore the DTR signal and dial out and log in to your host with
the sliplogin account. Do a ifconfig and a slattach and your SLIP link
is running.
The problem is the hanging up of the phone line when your job is done!
dp and ppp seem to be able to disconnect on a idle time!
Now you have to use the idle time of the modem you call in to, then your
phone line is hung up allright but on the calling side your modem
ignores everything so you still have to kill slattach down the interface
with ipconfig and last but not least reset the modem so it's back to
normal and finally you have to bring up your getty again!

On my backbone sun4nl.nl it's called dp.2.0.tar.Z and is in the directory
pub/network/ppp but it's streams based and I dont know if it's easy to
port!
