(minor niggle) BSD386 is the commercial product from BSDI, I don't think this is what was meant. Don't even think of installing 386bsd at the present time, it will take far too long to get into a useable state than waiting for FreeBSD to be released "any day now" (tm). There is no obvious reason to recommend which package to choose from FreeBSD or NetBSD, check them both out when they come out. FreeBSD is meant to be the base for the new patchkit, NetBSD is more general with respect to different machine architectures and you get access to the current source tree which is updated daily. Other advantages and disadvantages of either system are less apparent. -- adam@veda.is
