Product Complaint Report :

THE COMPLETE MODEM PLUS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
sold by a company called
THE COMPLETE PC   ,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

was nothing but trouble for the entire YEAR that I attempted to
make it work right. I called the technical support department at
this company MANY times, only to get the same useless advice, and
plenty of nasty attitude to go with it. I probably spent as much
calling up to San Jose as I paid for the modem. I dunno how much
I lost in incidental and consequential damages. I am seriously
considering suing these guys , so I will need to calculate the
amount of damage I incurred.

For a year I had told them time and time again that I couldn't
get the fax function to work properly. They flat out REFUSED to
replace either the WINDOWS software (that never worked at all,
and was supposed to be replaced by their third-party supplier
that I contacted MYSELF), or the DOS fax software (that almost
worked but never really did). I finally decided to give in and
PURCHASE a software update to replace the defective software that
came with the unit to begin with. BUYING new software from them
was the only way they could suggest to solve my problem.

Call me silly, but I expect a device to at least be capable of
performing the functions it was bought for. Maybe not well, but
it ought to at least work.

Well, the "upgrade" software arrived, and wouldn't even access
the modem at all. Wouldn't dial.....nothing. So, I called them
back and asked that they make good on this additional un-use-able
product, but of course they don't give refunds on software. Why
don't I call the tech support guys again, they suggest?

By this time I have given up and replaced the modem with a Zoom
(which , by the way, installed effortlessly, and has worked
perfectly ever since. Absolutely no problem with fax OR data
modes.)

I figure a years worth of haggling with **THE COMPLETE PC** over
this is enough time to waste screwing around, and it is
embarrassing as well as costly when I am unable to successfully
send or receive faxes with my customers. It makes ME look dumb. I
am in a technology consulting business, and if I can't even get
my own system running, why would anybody pay me to help with
theirs?

I don't know that everybody who deals with these people has
similar problems, but I don't know that they don't , either.

I ask all of you who might be looking at anything from
**THE COMPLETE PC** to please take my experience with them into
consideration, and suggest that it may be wise to choose a
different product.

Just say NO ...to THE COMPLETE PC !!!!!
