It has the QUEL query language which gives much of traditional SQL's functionality, as well as the equel preprocessor for embedding QUEL in a C program. The situation with ingres for 386bsd is a bit confusing. I *believe* there is a set of patches for ingres8.9 which will make it work. I stumbled upon a patched set of source code (thanks to alm@netcom.com) but I don't know if it being archived anywhere currently.
