What do you mean with "to replace in the near term" ? Is somebody already working
on them ?
If somebody is working on them  : what kind of shared-libs will they be ?
( SYSV shared-libs , SUN-shared-libs ? ) Do they need kernel-support ?
I'm asking this because if there would be SUN-type shared libs another a.out , exec,nlist ...
format change would be needed .
