    This may be a naive question, but it seems that there are a lot of
incompatabilities between 386bsd and other *ixs (based on the number of
applications that require patches in order to run) - why is this?

    Is there "porting guide" that summarizes typical problems in porting
apps to 386bsd?  I'd be willing to compile one if enough people are
willing to share their experiences.
