I second this *very* strongly! I was stuck for a week not being able to run
either 386bsd or DOS -- when I had *been* running DOS o.k.! -- because I
set the "memory timing" to "slow", and thereby caused my Adaptec controller
to cause grievous disk bit rot [due to underruns]. (I thought I was being
"helpful" to 386bsd by "dumbing down" the configuration. Hah!)
