As with any computer that has valuable information, make sure that you keep a good backup (once a night or week or whatever). There are lots of reasons that a hard drive can die, and usually they don't give you a whole lot of warning. You can check partition types using Norton Utilities Disk Editor. Tell it to edit your partition table, go to the partition type, and switch to hex edit mode. You can also do it with a program called pfdisk, which is on some ftp sites (sorry, don't know where off hand). alex
