Howdy!
I've been fiddling with NetBSD 0.9 for a few days now, and had
a few questions about it. Most are a result of my own
ignorance, but if somebody would be kind enough to show me
where to find the answers if (lack of) patience dictates they
don't answer them, I'd appreciate it immensely.
1. What is this kernfs thing enabled by option KERNFS? Is
this some 4.4 BSD feature? What is it used for, and is it
some file system representation of innards of the kernel?
2. Is there a libdbm for NetBSD? The system doesn't seem to have one,
and I was going to get the GNU (shudder) version to install
so that I could use the dbm stuff with perl and whatever else.
3. In the kernel currently, my system has the option MATH_EMULATE
Does this mean that ALL my programs thus far that are using floating
point are emulating it? I tried removing this line, but some programs
that did floating point crashed on eceptions (do I need to do
a buildworld?)
4. [this is a silly one] How do I get /dev/tty01|com1 (symlink)
working with 8N1 BBSs/dialup sites? I've been trying
stty -f /dev/com1 -parenb -oddp -evenp cs8 19200 while in tip
(to make them persist), but for some reason, many of the characters
get jumbled up and don't quite work (ENTER doesn't seem to work,
but CTRL-J does sort of in it's place....)
Other than that, I'm having a gas here....
Toodlepip!
Marc 'em.
