In TODO file of NetBSD-0.9 there is a request of the man(1) program
that can handle also man pages in nroff source form. Few days ago
Dave Mielke <markem@bcarh10d.bnr.ca> posted his man program called
adam to alt.sources. It seems to be quite cool. It can handle
catmans and nroff-sources. All manual pages can even be compressed
with any compression program. No caching is implemented, but it is
still much better than old BSD-man.
