First, the response has overwhelmed me. I had about 200 shirts on hand when I first posted the message. They sold out in the first three days. I reordered 600 more of which only a few of the smaller sizes remain. I have placed a second reorder with my supplier; they have informed me that the new shirts will be available in mid September. I have spent most of the past month learning how to do order fulfillment, international shipping, and every conceivable method of money transfer. The job does not pay all that well. Initially I earned about $10 per hour; I am now up to nearly $25 per hour. Good for clerical work, but lousy compared to my usual consulting rates. The interesting part of the job is all the letters that people send in commenting on various aspects of their thoughts about CSRG and BSD. I would not recommend this as a career occupation, but it has been an interesting transition since I `retired' from the university in mid-July (only the distribution staff remains at CSRG). On to the more mundane issues. Many people requested T-shirts for their kids. I have gotten some Youth sizes added. The art does not fit onto Toddler sized shirts. I have also expanded the set of available adult sizes to include Small and XXLarge. I have had a few requests for XXXLarge. My supplier is looking into getting some of these, though there will be some surcharge (probably about $2.00 extra if they become available). Having learned about the costs of international airmail, I have had to revise the foreign shipping charges. So, without further comment, here is the revised version of the posting. -------- The new 4.4BSD T-shirts are just now hot off the presses. The new art has the BSD Daemon standing in Birkenstocks on top of the world skewering a deathsquare on his trident. Under the picture is the text ``Free the Berkeley 4.4!''. The available sizes are Youth Small (YS, ages 6-9), Youth Medium (YM, ages 10-13), Youth Large (YL, ages 14-16), Adult Small (S), Adult Medium (M), Adult Large (L), Adult Extra Large (XL), and Adult Extra Extra Large (XXL). The shirts are available only in ash, as that color is designed to integrate with the six color halftone artwork. The shirts are Hanes ``Beefy-T'' preshrunk 100% cotton; they are generously cut, so after their first washing will fit similarly to a polyester shirt of the same size. The cost is $15.00 each (shipments to California are $13.86 plus $1.14 sales tax). In quantities of ten or more, the price is $12.50 each (shipments to California are $11.55 plus $0.95 sales tax). Within the United States, Canada, and Mexico, there is a mailing fee of $4.00 independent of order size. For orders outside the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the shipping fee is $2.00 per shirt ($8.00 minimum) if you want your order sent via airmail or $1.00 per shirt ($4.00 minimum) if you want your order sent by surface mail. These prices are good through June 1994; after that date contact me for current pricing. Payment may be made by money order or personal check payable in US dollars. In general, I am not set up to handle credit cards. However if you are ordering from a foreign country and getting a check is too difficult, contact me to see if I can arrange to take a Visa or Mastercard. Send your order to me at: Kirk McKusick 1614 Oxford St Berkeley, CA 94709-1608 Please include an electronic mail address at which to contact you should I have any questions about your order. As they say on the cereal boxes, offer good while supplies last! Kirk McKusick
