Hmm .. I have the same disk  but the write-performance is about 290 kB ( read is at 900 kB )
I tried to play with tunefs but it had absolutely no effect ( the performance 
changes were at +- 20 kb . 
Yes the disk was unmonted and the data was written to the filesystem . ( tunefs reports :
blabla changed from xx to yy , and the values were the right ones. )

Could someone post the "magic" values for this disk ?
