Message-ID: <1993Sep12.011012.15361@njitgw.njit.edu> From: kxn3796@hertz.njit.edu (Ken Nakata) Date: 12 Sep 93 01:10:12 GMT Sender: news@njit.edu Organization: New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, New Jersey Nntp-Posting-Host: hertz.njit.edu Lines: 27 Hello world, I just grabbed all floppy image files and binary distribution files in DOS formatted floppies, and I'm about to install FreeBSD to my 486 box. But install_notes says; load_fd if you're loading from floppies (NOTE: as of time of writing these notes, this does not work). Is this still the case? (I'm going to try anyway, so I will know if it's true or not soon) If it is, then how do I install FreeBSD from floppies? (currently, the IDE harddisk of my box has DOS/Windows partition and Mt.Xinu's Mach386 partition. I'm going to overwrite the Mach partition with FreeBSD. I think if the filesystem floppy has dd in it, I can make raw-written floppies on Mach and load it with dd after FreeBSD is installed but apparently I have to know that dd is included *before* installing FreeBSD) Thanks for your help in advance.
